Week Four: Designing your own writing retreats

Wow!!! How good was that? – and you never thought writing could be so much fun!

It was great to see you all at our very own writing retreat last week and to see everyone progressing their pieces forward – well done.

This session was all about developing as a writing community and to write outside our usual comfort zones in order to break free from some of the writing rituals that can hinder us from moving forward productively and at pace. The ppt for the session with activities is here:Β  writing4publication-series-day-4e.

Again there was a great writing buzz in the room – so thankyou all for making that happen.

Hope it continues to go well during these in-between weeks and don’t forget to keep a writing log and to bring this to the next session. By consensus request we’re going to have part of each session as a writing retreat so don’t forget to bring laptops, tablets and pendrives etc.. with any information you might need to access for your writing sessions.

Can’t wait to find out how you’ve got on since the last session.

Happy retreating πŸ™‚

Week Three: Becoming a Writer

Hi Everyone

I love our workshops! There is always such a fab buzz in the room as everyone moves their writing projects forward. Your energy, commitment and support for each other is really inspiring. This week we worked on refining message(s) and structure and used this to chunk up our writing projects into bite size bits so that scheduling and planning writing sections or tasks is easier and doable. We discussed how we go about our writing and explored writing practices to learn about which help and which hinder us achieve our writing goals. The session closed with a look at a tried and tested approach to develop our notes into drafts and begin a more formal process of writing the first draft.

This session’s ppt is here ( writing4publication-series-day-3-e ) and the ‘Structure – Writing Sections Template’ is here: structure-writing-sections_task-template-session-3.

There’s a bit of work to do before next time, see slide 11 for that and please bring a laptop / notebook / tablet to the next session.

Look forward to seeing soon πŸ™‚

Happy writing!
